Can I get unemployment if I quit or took a leave of absence because I lost my childcare or my child’s school closed because of COVID-19?
The regular rules for unemployment apply. You need to look for other childcare and ask your employer for a reasonable accommodation or a change in hours before quitting. For more information, see our fact sheets
Look for jobs that let you work from home or work when someone else can care for your children.
If there are no jobs you can do at this time, apply for unemployment anyway. If you are denied or need further advice, please contact Legal Aid.
